I offer many different surgical options to the people in my care. These include minimally invasive approaches, like laparoscopic and robotic surgery, that help us more precisely remove cancer with shorter recovery times. I often perform these procedures with sentinel lymph node mapping. This process allows us to take out only select lymph nodes, leading to a decreased risk for side effects while still obtaining important information that affects treatment decisions.

I also perform open surgeries, including extensive cytoreductive surgery, for all gynecologic cancers. We use cytoreductive surgery to remove as much cancerous tissue in a person’s abdomen as possible, in one procedure.

I see patients and offer outpatient procedures (medical treatments that do not require a hospital stay) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Monmouth in Middletown, New Jersey. I perform surgery at Memorial Hospital and at the Josie Robertson Surgery Center in Manhattan.

To help advance the field of care for people with these cancers, I also perform research. As a clinical informaticist (a specialist who works with information technology in healthcare), I focus on developing, evaluating, and scaling digital tools.

My work includes building new digital applications and tools to support electronic documentation and to help patients make decisions about their care. It also involves research on the role of telehealth, tracking symptoms after surgery, and more. I publish on these topics in peer-reviewed journals and present on clinical care and digital tools at national conferences. My goal in this work is to:

• Improve patient autonomy (the ability to decide for oneself) by connecting patients with relevant information.
• Increase patient engagement by connecting patients more closely with their medical team.
• Develop new models to improve care delivery.

It is my great privilege to care for women with gynecologic cancer. I will always strive to do the best for my patients and their families.
