At MSK Kids, we pioneer many of the earliest successful pediatric oncology treatments and take the latest innovations coming out of the lab and develop them into the most effective treatment strategies for patients.

1. Innovative Treatment Strategies

MSK Kids has the experience, diagnostic tools, and multidisciplinary approach to help patients. As the largest pediatric oncology program nationally, we treat 800 new children and young adults annually. What is rare elsewhere is common at MSK Kids. MSK Kids pioneered many of the earliest successful pediatric oncology treatments and continues to take the latest innovations coming out of the lab and quickly develop them into the most effective treatment strategies for patients.

2. Extensive Clinical Trials Program for Children and Young Adults

Clinical trials are the reason why the cure rate for childhood cancers has risen from practically zero in the 1960s to more than 80 percent today. Unlike most adult cancers, many standard-of-care therapies for children and young adults are delivered as part of a clinical trial. Right now, scientists at MSK Kids are conducting more than 100 clinical trials to advance understandings of childhood cancers and blood disorders. Most young people treated at MSK take part in a clinical trial at some point in their care. Learn more about the latest MSK Kids clinical trials.

3. Access to a Wide Network of Cancer Specialists

Children and young adult patients benefit from being in a pediatric hospital within Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the top cancer centers in the world. Patients will have access to a wide range of adult and pediatric specialists that collaborate and share insights. MSK Kids fosters a team-care approach with access to a variety of specialists in radiology, pathology, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, psychosocial support, and symptom management. We also have the leading experts in pediatric malignancies, immune deficiencies, and stem cell transplantation biology.

4. The Latest Research Translated to Practice

At MSK Kids, patients benefit from innovations in the lab that lead to the latest breakthroughs in treatments. Most recently, MSK established The Tow Center for Developmental Oncology (TCDO), which brings together the unique expertise of researchers and physicians from across MSK and empowers them to pursue translational research projects. The goal of the TCDO is to develop fundamental insights into the molecular mechanisms of young-onset cancers - those affecting children and young adults - and therapeutic approaches for more effective cancer control.

5. A Collaborative Partner at MSK Kids

At MSK Kids, we believe in physician-to-physician collaboration. We partner with the patients referring provider to make it easy for patients to receive the care they need via telemedicine, in-person visits at eight locations in New York and New Jersey, or in a shared care model. In fact, 90% of MSK Kids’ treatments are outpatient. We will consult with the referring provider on treatment options and return your patient to you for continued care.

If you would like your doctor to refer you to MSK Kids, call us at 833-675-5437, Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-6:00PM ET, or make an appointment online. We commit to a next-day response time for appointments. Reach out with any questions at [email protected].
