I am a double board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist. I am dedicated to applying my technical expertise and clinical interests to help people cope with pain resulting from cancer and its treatments. I see patients at Memorial Hospital and Manhattan.

As a member of both the Anesthesiology and Pain Service in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, my clinical work involves delivering anesthesia as well as treating chronic and postoperative cancer pain. In caring for a patient with cancer pain, my goal is to relieve suffering and improve quality of life – both long term and short term – using pharmacotherapy as well as interventional therapies such as nerve blocks, cryotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, neurolytic blocks, nerve stimulators, and intrathecal drug delivery systems. Though cancer pain can be a common occurrence, I believe that each patient’s experience and disease is unique, so I strive to provide personalized care to help them feel better.

In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am involved with education and training of future anesthesiology and pain management residents and fellows. My academic interests include peripheral nerve blocks as well as implantable pain management devices. I am also interested in utilizing the information available through large pain databases to answer pain management questions.

An anesthesiologist (a-nes-THEE-zee-AH-loh-jist) is a doctor with special training in medication to make you sleep during your surgery or procedure. They monitor your vital signs while you’re asleep.
